So you're a famous celebrity with legions of fans, and brands pay you big bucks to wear their clothes. Even the paparazzi fall all over themselves for a glimpse of you.
But suddenly, for reasons that will forever remain a mystery to the common folk, you decide to create a whole new identity. Maybe its to protect your privacy, maybe it is to channel another dimension of your persona, or maybe its just to attract attention. Whatever the reason may be, some celebrity alter egos end up becoming just as famous as the original celeb.
Star: Christina Aguilera
Alter ego: Xtina
Singing sensation Christina Aguilera rose to fame on account of her powerful voice and her cute girl-next-door look. But soon after the meteoric success of her debut single, "Genie in a bottle", Miss Aguilera faced an unexpected slump in her career graph. So, after much deliberation, she decided to re-invent her image. In 2002, she caused quite a few jaws to drop when she revealed her alter ego, 'Xtina'. Provocatively dressed, she gyrated to the tunes of her newly released single, "Dirrty".
Ever since, she has alternated between her two identities for the various albums that she has released. But given the birth of her child, we can imagine that the alter ego will serve her well. When her son hits his teens and stumbles across his mother's more risque videos, she can always say, "That isn't me honey, that's Xtina."
Star: Stefani germanotta
Alter ego: Lady Gaga/Jo Calderone
Jo Calderone is the alter ego of an alter ago. Confused? So are we. Stefani Germanotta, an aspiring singer created an eyeball grabbing alter ego for herself called Lady Gaga. Then Lady Gaga went ahead to create a male self called Jo Calderone. For the uninitiated, Jo Calderone is an Italian-American from New Jersey, a mechanic and a male model. Jo made an appearance at this year's Video Music Awards, where he visited the men's washroom and even badmouthed Lady Gaga during an interview. For all those who are wondering why Lady Gaga created this character, it's like asking why Lady Gaga is Lady Gaga.
Star: beyonce
Alter ego: sasha fierce
Beyonce Knowles has everything - a fabulous career, drop-dead gorgeous looks and a husband who loves her. And yet, she felt that she couldn't express her tougher, more aggressive side. The answer came to her in 2008, when she created an alter ego called 'Sasha Fierce' to coincide with the release of her latest album. She said, "I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am. Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken and more glamourous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage." So while fans were busy trying to adapt to her alternate self, Beyonce soon announced that she had killed Sasha as she didn't need the alter-ego anymore. Murder, we say, is murder!
Star: Mariah Carey
Alter ego: Mimi carey
Ace crooner Mariah Carey made the smartest move of all when she created her alter ego. Being a world famous recording artiste, we can be sure that Miss Carey must have thrown a tantrum or two in her day. So when she wanted to distance herself from her diva moments, she called herself 'Mimi' and attributed the bad behaviour to 'Mariah'. In 2005, she released an album titled 'The Emancipation of Mimi'. She is quoted to have said that Mimi is a very personal nickname used only by those who know her best, so by bringing Mimi out onto the fore, she aimed at making the fans familiar with her real self, and not the diva version that was Mariah. In fact, upon Mimi's emancipation, a music honcho told her, "I feel your spirit, Mimi's spirit, on this record.
That's the fun side of you that people don't get to see - the side that can laugh at the diva jokes, laugh at the breakdown jokes, laugh at whatever they want to say about you and just live life and enjoy it". Errr... Right? Paris Hilton hit headlines during her visit to the country for her generosity towards a Mumbai beggar, whom the American heiress had given a $100 note while on a trip to the country.
Paris, who was in India from September 24-27, was on her way to a mall on Sunday, when she spotted Ishika, a beggar in Mumbai's Andheri area, and gave her a $100 note. After that, Paris tweeted about helping people in India, and had asked for suggestions about charities that she could associate with.
But, as news broke out on Wednesday about Ishika losing the money due to a petty squabble in her family, Paris once again took to twitter to reach out to Ishika. It was reported that after Ishika realised that she'd been given a "dollar" by the foreigner, she gave it to her brother-in-law for getting it converted to Indian currency, but as soon as her relatives got to know of the money she'd got, they all started troubling her brother-in-law for a share.
Enraged by their reaction, he tore the note up, without realising its value. After the news was printed in an Indian daily, Paris took to her micro blogging page on Wednesday evening, and said, "How can I reach this woman & send her even more in her currency? Can whoever interviewed her tweet me please?"

Sneha Ullal

Kristin Chenoweth
"I have to pay my dues like everybody else," the multi-talented Kristin Chenoweth tells us when we ask about advantages to starting a career in country music as an already-established fixture in the entertainment world.
The humble Oklahoma native is certainly proving her sincerity.
Even though a nominee, she skipped last week's Emmy Awards in favor of appearing on the Grand Ole Opry stage, and is spending almost as much time in Nashville as she is New York or L.A. these days.
Kristin visited our AOL Music Sessions studios to sing several new songs from her debut country album, 'Some Lessons Learned,' dazzling our staff with both her powerful pipes and peppy personality. The premiere of her live performances and candid interview will be right here on The Boot & AOL Music tomorrow (Sept. 27).
In the meantime, enjoy this sneak peek behind the scenes of the actress/singer's Sessions in the video player below. As the Tony-winning Broadway actress and upcoming American Country Awards co-host Kristin Chenoweth gets ready to release her album 'Some Lessons Learned' next week, she's teasing us with a new song, a new video ... and a familiar tune. Watch the new country sensation perform 'Lessons Learned' -- originally included on Carrie Underwood's debut album 'Some Hearts.'
Though we love Carrie's take, we've found ourselves transfixed by the sincerity that Kristin is channeling in her 'Wicked' good performance of the song. After all, it fits the message of her album quite well. "This whole record is filled with songs that are me," Kristin tells the Boot. "This is a woman who has experienced success, failures, heartbreak, rejection, things that people don't think happened. I want to paint the overall picture of who I am. It's me getting to exorcize things."
The song was penned by legendary songwriter Diane Warren, who also wrote four other tracks on Kristin's 'Some Lessons Learned.' The new album hits stores September 13.
On her debut country album, 'Some Lessons Learned,' the multi-talented Kristin Chenoweth pays tribute to one of the most important people in her life, her dad.
"Well you laughed and told me you really wanted a boy / But you cried first time you held me, said you never felt such joy / That's fathers and daughters," the Oklahoma native sings in the opening lines of her latest single, 'Fathers and Daughters.'
Kristin visited our studios to sing several tunes from the new album. (Come back to The Boot next week for her exclusive live performance!) We also sat down with the songstress to talk about the new music.
Read her personal connection to 'Fathers and Daughters' below, along with her performance of the tune at her debut appearance on the Grand Ole Opry.
"I have a really tight relationship with my family, especially my mom and dad," Kristin tells The Boot. "My mom has been my best friend, and she's been such an inspiration to me. She's survived cancer three times in her life, and my dad has been a great example of what a father is and what a husband should be.
In fact, I tell him all the time that he ruined it for me, which is why I'm single because I keep comparing men to him. Daddy issues, that would be me. [laughs] But I sing a song on my record called fathers and daughters that the wonderful Jodi Marr wrote, and though it wasn't written for me, it feels like it was.
If I could have written a song about my father, it would be this song. And the reaction to it has been so strong, because it's a relationship song. Even if its mother-son, or brother-sister. It's very special."

Personal Quotes
I love old music, old movies, screwball comedies, vintage clothes and basically I'm an old-fashioned gal.
I don't want to go to another rollercoaster ride of a movie. If I want that, I'll go to Magic Mountain. I'm really interested in the young directors that are doing different things in cinema. I think the movies people will hold onto are the Rushmore (1998)s and the Being John Malkovich (1999)s. Those are the kind of films I want to do; that's what I'm passionate about.
I'm blessed with a lot of energy and stamina. I can't stand sitting still. I went to a spa once with my mom and I was like, "Get me out of here!'"
I don't really like to go out very much. I'm not scandalous. I'm not, like, in this to be famous. I also find it so embarrassing when you read about people and it's like they were so trashed at Skybar and stumbling around. I don't want to be that person. That's just so embarrassing to have that written about you.
I'm the worst at picking what movies are going to do well. I have no idea. I'm really surprised if a movie I like does well.
For a while I was like, "Oh my God, anyone that would release an album as an actor is the biggest fool ever", but I happened to have sung all my life before I was an actor. Why are musicians allowed to become actors? No one ever gives them flack for that.
I can do the Chipmunk voice and impressions of Judy Garland, Debbie Reynolds and Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music (1965). I could probably do the whole Von Trapp family.
It's an addiction. I love clothes. I like to go down Melrose and look in all the windows and I go to different flea markets. I have lots of costumes. You never know when you're going to have to dress up like a milkmaid from the 1600s.
I was labeled a 'theatre type' in high school, which made it hard to fit in and feel part of things.
People say: "Oh yeah, jobs for the boys". I wish. You've got to fight even harder with a family like mine.
You have to keep reminding yourself it's not about money, because there is a lot of money to be made in this business if you're willing to do whatever. But that's not what I'm thinking about. I continue only to take movies because I love the script and because I really want to do it.
I don't think I'm very much like anyone else, really. I'm sure there are aspects of other actors that I share, but I don't see anybody else and go, "Damn, they stole my thing". I'm me, and I like that there are people who have an appreciation for that.
I don't want to be a babe. I don't want vanity to ever get in the way, because I think to maintain that, you have to be aware of yourself all the time, and that gets in the way of acting. My job's not to be the beautiful person. My job is to be the best actor I can be.
I always choose roles that are, you know, hopefully different from the last role. I don't wanna do the same thing over and over again because that's, well, first of all that's no fun.
It's a lot harder to do an ensemble because your energy is going in so many different places, and you have to cover everybody. You have to sort of split your attention.
[interview in "In Style" magazine, 9/06] The first album I ever got was "Like a Virgin". It was during the Iran Contra conflict-I thought she was saying, "Like a Persian".
Always the aim for me is making people feel like they are not alone. That's just the greatest feeling.
I'm into sincerity in music and sincerity in art. If it doesn't feel true, I don't want to do it. Things that are too dramatic scare me. I think that's why I don't always fit into the world of performing arts.
I'm always trying to do stuff I haven't done before or challenge myself so I'm not resting on my laurels all of the time because if I just found my little niche and never left it, I'd be pretty boring, I think.
I started out doing theater, and I did a lot of school plays, theater summer camp, and all that. And then I did a play with a theater company when I was seventeen, and then I got representation, and then I just started audition for stuff. And then I got some things, and I got more things, and people started giving me jobs, and, you know... it's good.
[On playing the sexually-charged Natalie in 'Our Idiot Brother'] I like characters who are complex, so I follow those roles.I love independent cinema. I feel very close to that world because it's about art. And I say no to a lot of work because it looks boring. I'd rather work really hard on a great movie that few people see than a crap movie everyone sees.
The fact that people are associating being girlie with weakness--that needs to be examined...Are we bitches because we have our own opinions? If that makes me a bitch, or that makes women bitches, then maybe we're all bitches.

Katie Price spend the day with children
Being such a busy and successful businesswoman who is constantly in demand, it must be a real treat for Katie Price to spend the day with all her children.
So when the opportunity arose for her to take her brood to a special Disney screening of the Lion King, she jumped at the chance to gather her cubs and head up to London.
The glamour model, 33, was snapped outside the IMAX theatre in Waterloo with her three children as they posed for some pictures before heading inside.
Katie carried four-year-old daughter Princess Tiaamii, who looked just like her mother with her long blond curly hair.
At their feet was Tiaamii's brother Junior, six, and their half-brother Harvey, nine, who was grabbed for a picture by an actor dressed up as one of the film's characters, the meerkat Timon.
The family were joined by and some friends who had come along to share in the day.
But noticeably absent was Katie's Argentinian boyfriend Leandro Penna, who is currently in Miami.
Katie took to her Twitter page an hour or so before to announce how much her family were looking forward to the screening.
She wrote: 'Kids so excited about today!'
And not only were they happy about attending the screening, but she also announced that they were picking up a couple of puppies.
Also attending the breakfast screening was TV presenter Myleene Klass, who brought four-year-old daughter Ava, who, despite being used to her mother's fame, came over all camera shy on the red carpet.
Disney have re-released their 1994 smash-hit animated feature film in 3D to revive the movie and entice a new generation of fans.
The film, which tells the story of young lion cub Simba who goes into exile after he is tricked into thinking he killed his father, is released in the UK on October 7, exactly 17 years to the day of its original release.
Meanwhile, Katie, whose body has given her fame and fortune, moaned about her assets in a new interview.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, she said: 'I hate my belly and my knobbly knees and I hate my finger where I had a cancer scare years ago and had a lump removed.
My boobs are saggy and my hair’s falling out from where they dyed it wrong in LA.'

Ashlee Simpson stepped out with her new man
It's less than a week since Ashlee Simpson stepped out with her new man at the Emmy Awards.
And now the actress's ex Pete Wentz, has been spotted with a mystery brunette taking his son to the park in Los Angeles.
The 32-year-old looked rather glum as he carried two-year-old Bronx in one arm and toys for the sandpit in the other.
His leggy companion also looked downcast as she strode behind him in hot pants, a purple tee and casual deck shoes.
Ashlee, the younger sister of Dukes Of Hazzard actress Jessica, filed for divorce back in February after just three years of marriage.
Her and Pete have remained friends however and are regularly seen out and about together with their beloved little boy Bronx.
In a statement announcing their split, the couple maintained they are civil with each other and remain friends because of their child.
It said: 'We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx.'
Now, it seems both are ready - and happy - to move on publicly and put their past behind them.
And the new addition to Pete's life didn't seem to phase Bronx at all. The curly-haired tot played happily with her and his father in the sandpit amid a range of toys.
Ashlee and new man, Boardwalk Empire actor, Vincent Piazza put on a Public Display of Affection at the Emmys on Monday.
The new couple were spotted getting cosy at the HBO Official After-Party, and it is the third night in a week the pair have paraded their new relationship in public.
The 26-year-old appeared to be making it loud and clear that they are officially an item, as she affectionately stroked Piazza's face and lovingly cuddled up to her beau for the cameras.
Pete, meanwhile was first spotted out and about with his new girl yesterday coming out of a grocery store in Los Angeles.
But this is the first time he has been seen out with her and his son prompting speculation their relationship must be serious.

Famous Kids Stars
Even ordinary kids these days live lives of supermodels and movie stars. It's all in the eyes of the parents and relatives. Doing something cute? Snap. Remotely clever? Snap. Moment to remember, maybe? Snap.
Looking through old family albums that are filled with snapshots of my older sister, the first child when Pop was away in WWII in the army, I am hard-pressed to find photos just of my brother or just of me. If we were children now-a-days? We'd be plastered all over like some kind of hyped-up PR campaign.
My niece Janean Thompson Baird, mother of two boys, helped me understand picture taking these days by writing me this message. --JGR
Maybe it's not just the cost making the difference - though for me that's enough of an incentive. It could be it's just the generation that was raised with the launch of MTV, remote controls, VCR's, CD's, DVD's and truly portable cell phones is so techno-savy.
Watch sometime at the zoo or park or fair and you'll see doting parents snapping away. Now there is just the expense of the camera itself. Gone are the days when you bore the expense of the camera PLUS film and developing. Not to mention all the do it yourself home photo print options. Now every moment is recorded for posterity.
We figure it's what we're supposed to do: record and save as much of it as we can. So much personal technology was developed and launched in the last 30 years it's staggering. Home movies have been around for awhile, but it's never been so easy as it is now to download and upload and share those movies with the world.
I used to joke our kids were going to think they were models with as many pictures that were taken of them. Though I think it was my husband's way of keeping me in the loop on what they did when I was not with them. It wasn't all bad. I don't take as many pictures, or as wll-composed pictures as he does.
The night I celebrated a major life change with my New Beginnings party, we didn't take one picture. While I wish there were a few, I know I don't need them to remember the feeling of the night and who was there to share in the celebration with me.
But every so often there will be a moment I don't want to miss and I'll grab the camera and shoot. Mostly I just try to live in the moment and not be so worried about capturing the moment.
I always tell him, "I'll take one with my heart instead." One of the lessons in my book-in-progress "Camo Matches Everything," (a quote from my husband when I was trying to match an outfit) is to carry a camera. But, if you don't have one, take a picture with your heart.
I have always loved Grandpa Thompson's poem, "The pictures that I didn't take". There have been times my son has said to me, "Mom, take a picture" and I didn't have a camera to freeze frame the moment.

Cheryl Cole VS Kim Kardashian
Pop singer Cheryl Cole has admitted that she has a crush on Hollywood actress Cameron Diaz, after the singer shot some scenes with her for the movie 'What To Expect When You're Expecting'.
Cole, 28, comes in as a special appearance in the movie, as she plays a judge for a talent show along with Diaz, and it has been reported that the singer has developed a soft spot for the actress.
"Cameron is amazing, honestly I've got such a girl crush on her. She's such an amazing woman. It's just so good to be doing new stuff," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.
After working with Diaz, the Girls Aloud singer now wants to work more alongside the blonde actress or anything that involves acting.
"I never had the confidence to do acting before, and I've said I could probably play myself quite well. It was brilliant, we'll see what happens next," Cole said in an interview with Vogue.co.uk
After being the judge for 'The X Factor', Cole has been been switching careers from designing shoes to her recent love for acting.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries have moved into the $7,000 a night Presidential Suite in New York's Gansevoort Hotel.
The newlyweds - who reportedly earned $17 million from their wedding - are staying in the two-storey 2,000 square foot suite which has three bedrooms, a marble floored bathroom and a huge private balcony while filming reality TV show 'Kourtney and Kim Take New York' in the city.
Kim,30, appears to have settled in to life in New York where she and 26-year-old Kris - who became an unrestricted free agent after leaving NBA's New Jersey Nets - attended a special musical performance by Justin Timberlake and FreeSol, a band signed to his Tennman Records label last night (31.08.11).
Speaking about the event, which took place at Justin's Southern Hospitality eatery, she tweeted: "Such a glam night NYC! Thanks for the warm welcome! Thanks again @JasonBinn @ColinCowie!!! Now I get to sleep in! I need some major rest! (sic)"
Also in attendance were Kim's sisters Khloe and Kourtney, close pal Jonathan Cheban and actresses Emma Roberts, Emma Stone and Amanda Seyfried to hear Justin sing an acoustic version of 'What Goes Around Comes Around'.

Jessica Marie Alba-The Shining Star
Jessica Marie Alba was born in Pomona, California, on April 28, 1981. Jessica’s family moved to Biloxi, Mississippi while Jessica was very young.
Her father, who was in the Air Force, moved the family to Del Rio, Texas, later. Eventually, the family settled in southern California when Jessica was nine. Jessica had always wanted to be an actress from the age of five. She took her first acting class at the age of 12. Shortly later, Jessica was signed by an agency.
In 1993, Jessica made her movie debut in Camp Nowhere. She was originally hired for a short time but got lucky when one of the main actresses dropped out. Jessica, who had the same color hair as the actress, eagerly took over the spot.
After her first movie, Jessica appeared in two commercials for Nintendo and J.C. Penny and a few independent films. In 1994, she landed a reoccurring role in "The Secret World of Alex Mac." She played a snob who made life hard for the main character with magical powers.
Also in 1994, she landed the role of Maya for a pilot of "Flipper." Jessica spent 1995 filming the first season of "Flipper" in Australia. Jessica is a PADI-certified diver and the "Flipper" show allowed her to have fun and play with the dolphins.
The success of the first season of "Flipper" lead to the filming of the second season, which Jessica also starred in. Jessica involvement in "Flipper" lasted from 1995-1997. Since "Flipper" Jessica has appeared in a number of television shows and movies.
In 1996, Jessica appeared in Venus Rising as Young Eve. Also in 1996, she appeared in an episode of "Chicago Hope", as Maria. In 1997, Jessica appeared on the "Dini Petty Show", a Canadian talk show, and talked about her role in Flipper and her general acting career. She began working on P.U.N.K.S., featuring Randy Quaid, in 1998. P.U.N.K.S. was just recently released on video in early January, 1999.
In 1998, Jessica appeared in several TV shows for an episode or two. In early 1998, she appeared in "Brooklyn South", as Melissa. A few months later, she appeared in two episodes of "Beverly Hills 90210", as Leanne. And finally, she appeared in an episode of "Love Boat: The Next Wave."
In 1999 she appeared a huge number of magazines. She had a small role in Never Been Kissed which was released in the Spring. A month later she could be found with a larger role in Idle Hands. Her two performances in those movies started a buzz in the entertainment industry.
Many more magazines would come knocking on her door. Shortly after the release of those two movies, she landed the starring role in Paranoia. She finished filming Paranoia in June. The movie is in post-production now.
Shortly later she started working on what will potentially be her biggest work ever. She auditioned for the leading role in Dark Angel. She caught the eye of James Cameron and will now star in the post anticipated TV show of 2000, Dark Angel. With the huge success of Dark Angel and its legion of fans, Jessica will no longer be a rising star, she will be among the hollywood elite, a star.
Jessica made a comeback in 2003 with the title role in Honey. In 2005 she appeared opposite Bruce Willis in the movie "Sin City", the down-and-dirty feature-film version of Frank Miller's popular graphic novels. Alba played Nancy, a stripper with a tortured past who's about as close to innocence as it gets in a grisly black-and-white world.

Julia Fiona Roberts-Queen Forever
Julia Fiona Roberts, born in Smyrna, Georgia, never dreamed she would become the most popular actress in America. As a child, due to her love of animals, Julia originally wanted to be a veterinarian, but later studied journalism. When her brother, Eric Roberts, achieved some success in Hollywood, Julia decided to try acting. Her first break came in 1988 when she appeared in two youth-oriented movies Mystic Pizza (1988) and Satisfaction (1988).
The movies introduced her to a new audience who instantly fell in love with this pretty woman. Julia's biggest success was in the signature movie Pretty Woman (1990), for which Julia got an Oscar nomination, and also won the People's Choice award for Favorite Actress. Even though Julia would spend the next few years either starring in serious movies, or playing fantasy roles like Tinkerbell, the movie audiences would always love Julia best in romantic comedies. With My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) Julia gave the genre fresh life that had been lacking in Hollywood for some time.
Offscreen, after a brief marriage, Julia has been romantically linked with several other actors. Julia has also become involved with UNICEF charities and has made visits to many different countries, including Haiti and India, in order to promote goodwill. Julia is one of the most popular and sought-after talents in Hollywood.
Born during the late '60s, Georgia native Julia Roberts was raised in a fervently pro-theater environment. Her parents regularly hosted acting and writing workshops, and both of the Roberts children (Julia and her brother Eric) showed an interest in the performing arts at an early age. Ironically enough, Eric was the first to break into film; in 1978, one year after their father died of lung cancer at 47, Eric_Roberts starred in director Frank_Pierson's psychological drama King of the Gypsies. Though her older brother would go on to have a solid acting career, it was, of course, Julia Roberts who earned a spot among Hollywood's elite.
After making her film debut in Blood_Red -- which wouldn't be released until 1989, despite having been completed in 1986 -- and appearing in several late '80s television features, Roberts got her first real break in the 1988 made-for-cable drama Satisfaction. That role, consequently, led to her first significant supporting role -- a feisty pizza parlor waitress in 1989's Mystic_Pizza with Annabeth_Gish, Lili_Taylor, and a then 19-year-old Matt_Damon. While Mystic_Pizza was not a star-making film for Roberts, it certainly helped earn her the credentials she needed to land the part of Shelby, an ill-fated would-be mother in Steel_Magnolias. The 1989 tearjerker found her acting alongside Sally_Field and Shirley MacLaine, and culminated in an Oscar nomination for Roberts.
While the success of Steel_Magnolias played no small part in launching Roberts' career, and undoubtedly secured her role in the mediocre Flatliners (1990) with former flame Kiefer_Sutherland, it was director Garry_Marshall's romantic comedy Pretty_Woman with Richard_Gere that served as her true breakthrough role. Roberts' part in Pretty_Woman (a good-hearted prostitute who falls in love with a millionaire client) made the young actress a household name and cemented what would become a permanent spot in tabloid fodder. Roberts broke off her engagement with Sutherland in 1991, just three days before they were scheduled to be married, and surprised the American public in 1993, when she began her two-year marriage to country singer Lyle_Lovett. Roberts' personal life kept her name in the spotlight despite a host of uneven performances throughout the early '90s (neither 1991's Dying_Young or Sleeping With the Enemy garnered much acclaim), as did a reputed feud with Steven_Spielberg during the filming of Hook (1991).
Luckily, Roberts made decidedly less embarrassing headlines in 1993, when her role alongside future Oscar winner Denzel_Washington in The_Pelican_Brief reaffirmed her status as a dramatic actress. Her career, however, took a turn back to the mediocre throughout the following year; both Prêt-à-Porter and I_Love_Trouble proved commercial flops, and Mary_Reilly (1996) fizzled at the box office as well. The downward spiral reversed directions once again with 1996's Michael_Collins and Conspiracy_Theory with Mel_Gibson, and led to several successful comic roles including Notting_Hill with Hugh_Grant, Runaway_Bride, and most notably, My_Best_Friend's_Wedding with Rupert_Everett and a then virtually unknown Cameron_Diaz.
Roberts' biggest success didn't present itself until 2000, though, when she delivered an Oscar-winning performance playing the title role in Steven_Soderbergh's Erin_Brockovich. The film, based on the true story of Erin_Brockovich, a single mother who, against all odds, won a heated battle against corporate environmental offenders, earned Roberts a staggering 20-million-dollar salary. Officially the highest paid actress in Hollywood, Roberts went on to star in 2001's America's_Sweethearts with Billy_Crystal, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and John_Cusack, as well as The_Mexican with Brad_Pitt. While on the set of The_Mexican, Roberts met cameraman Danny Moder, whom she would marry in 2001 almost immediately after ending a four-year relationship with fellow actor Benjamin_Bratt. Indeed, 2001 was a banner year for Roberts; in addition to America's_Sweethearts and The_Mexican, Roberts starred in the crime caper Ocean's_Eleven, in which she rejoined former co-stars Brad_Pitt and Matt_Damon, and acted for the first time with George_Clooney and Don_Cheadle.
Julia Roberts worked with Soderbergh once again in 2002's Full_Frontal, which, despite a solid cast including Mary McCormack and Catherine_Keener, among others, did not even begin to fare as well as Erin_Brockovich. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002), which featured Roberts as a femme fatale alongside George_Clooney, Sam_Rockwell, and Drew_Barrymore did much better, and preceded 2003's Mona_Lisa_Smile with young Hollywood's Julia_Stiles, Kirsten_Dunst, and Maggie_Gyllenhaal. In 2004, Roberts signed on for the sequel to Ocean's_Eleven -- the aptly titled Ocean's_Twelve. A supporting performance in the animated 2006 feature The Ant Bully marked the glamorous Hollywood beauty's first foray into the world of /animation, which she would continue for Christmas of 2006 with the role of everone's favorite selfless spider in Charlotte's Web.
In the coming years, Roberts would reteam with Tom Hanks for Charlie Wilson's War in 2007, and then again for Larry Crowne in 2011. In the meantime, the A-lister would keep busy with a critically acclaimed performance in 2010's Eat, Pray, Love as a divorcee on a journey of self discovery.
The movies introduced her to a new audience who instantly fell in love with this pretty woman. Julia's biggest success was in the signature movie Pretty Woman (1990), for which Julia got an Oscar nomination, and also won the People's Choice award for Favorite Actress.

Hollywood ? Bollywood actress
If you try to find out who is the most beautiful or the hottest Hollywood actress you are bound to get spoilt for choice. There are so many of them that you cannot choose a single Hollywood actress as the most beautiful or the hottest. Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Katie Holmes, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Hurley, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Reese Witherspoon, Hilary Swank among several others are rated to be the hot Hollywood actresses. In magazine and tabloid ratings these actresses keep vying with each other for the number one position of beauty and glamour.
But it will be wrong to choose only beauty and glamour as the parameters for determining the popularity of the Hollywood actresses. All these actresses are talented. Even in unconventional not-so-feminine roles like that of a lesbian boxer as played by Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby (2004), the eponymous tough warrior in the Lara Croft movies played by Angelina Jolie, the androgynous character of Virginia Woolf in The Hours (2002) played by Nicole Kidman with prosthetic makeup — the Hollywood ladies have proven their superb talent for acting. The roles fetched them several awards and have increased manifold their popularity and international recognition.
But the additional factors that contribute towards making the talented actresses sizzle with glamour are how they maintain public relations, how frequently they feature in gossip columns of tabloids and magazines, how often they cook up controversies and what novel style statements they make at gala award ceremonies in their designer wear.
For instance, Nicole Kidman came suddenly to the centre of attention when she had a controversial divorce with Tom Cruise in 2001. Immediately afterwards with her role in Moulin Rouge she shot to fame and won several awards. Many contemporary gossip columns felt that coming to the limelight with her acclaimed role in the award-winning film became easy for her controversial divorce that shortly preceded the film release.
Elizabeth Harely's pre-marriage dating with her friend Valentina Pedroni's beau Arun Nayar stormed up controversy and gave some mileage to news posts the Hollywood actress.
The other way round, the popularity of a controversial film role often leads to wild surmises about the real life attributes of a Hollywood actress. Hilary Swank kept being plagued by questions about her real life sexual orientation after she won awards for her role of a lesbian boxer in Million Dollar Baby. The gossip interests about her real life sexual orientation quite predictably turned the spotlight of magazines and tabloids on her personal life.
About the Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat from India who landed in a role in the international Hollywood production Hissss in the role of a snake and appeared on the red carpet of the Academy Awards 2010 with a real snake twirled around her neck reinforced the misconception of the Western world that India is indeed full of snakes and snake-charmers. Needless to say, this weird appearance despite the fashion disaster turned many eyes to the Bollywood actress.

Kate Winslet vs Amy Adams
But then there are the celebrities who are just so lovable that we can forget about their little slip up... and one of them happens to be Kate Winslet.
In the September issue of V Magazine, the actress admits she regrets telling everyone in February of 2009 that she was not going to do any more nude scenes. But have no fear because the bare-all queen is going back on her statement and says, "It definitely makes me the hypocrite of the decade. I'm just going to stop saying it."
But hey, if you've got it, flaunt it -- right? Her latest nude scenes were in the Emmy-nominated miniseries Mildred Pierce, and even though she's become a connoisseur of bearing it all on camera, she claims she still gets really nervous when she's doing it. She says, "I hate it! Listen, make no mistake, I just get on it. I just go in and say 'Oh f---' let's do it,' and boom! If you complain about it or procrastinate it's not going to go away. It's a profoundly bizarre thing to do." Let this be a lesson to everyone -- don't procrastinate on your homework, chores, or nude scenes.
Kate enjoys the prospect of a challenge when it comes to taking on a new project and hopes that she's always able to find her characters inspiring. The Contagion star states, "I hope I am s---ting myself over the characters I play for the rest of my life, because the day I go, 'Oh yeah, that's going to be a piece of pie', why f--ing bother? If you do that, you do not learn."
Amy Adams was born in Italy to American parents Kathryn and Richard Adams, while her father was a U.S. serviceman. She was raised in a Mormon family of seven children in Castle Rock, Colorado.Adams sang in the school choir at Douglas County High School and was an apprentice dancer at a local dance company, with the ambition of becoming a ballerina.
However, she worked as a greeter at The Gap and as a Hooters hostess to support herself before finding work as a dancer at Boulder's Dinner Theatre and Country Dinner Playhouse in such productions as "Brigadoon" and "A Chorus Line."
It was there that she was spotted by a Minneapolis dinner-theater director who asked her to move to Chanhassen, Minnesota for more regional dinner theater work.Nursing a pulled muscle that kept her from dancing, she was free to audition for a part in Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999), which was filming nearby in Minnesota.
During the filming, Kirstie Alley encouraged her to move to Los Angeles, where she soon won a part in the Fox television version of the film Cruel Intentions (1999) in the part played in the film by Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kathryn Merteuil. Although three episodes were filmed, the troubled series never aired. Instead, parts of the episodes were cobbled together and released as the direct-to-video Cruel Intentions 2 (2000) (V).
After more failed television spots, she landed a major role in Catch Me If You Can (2002) playing opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. But this did not provide the break-through she might have hoped for, with no work being offered for about a year. She eventually returned to television, and joined the short-lived series 'Dr. Vegas'.Her role in the low-budget independent film Junebug (2005) (which was shot in 21 days) got her real attention, including an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress as well as other awards.
The following year, her ability to look like a wide-eyed Disney animated heroine helped her to be chosen from about 300 actresses auditioning for the role of Giselle in the animated/live-action feature film Enchanted (2007) which would prove to be her major break-through role. Her vivacious yet innocent portrayal allowed her to use her singing and dancing talents
. Her performance garnered a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.Adams next appeared in the major production Charlie Wilson's War (2007) and went on to act in the independent film Sunshine Cleaning (2008) which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
Her recent role as Sister James in Doubt (2008/I) brought her a second Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress as well as nominations for a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild award, and a British Academy Film award. She appears as Amelia Earhart in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009)and as a temp secretary in Julie & Julia (2009). She is a very sought-after actress with a bright future.

Kardashians?Justin Bieber?Taylor Swift?
If the Kardashians had it their way, Justin Bieber would make Kendall Jenner one less lonely girl!
Family matriarch Kris "desperately wants Kendall to become as famous as her superstar sisters, and she’s pushing for her to date Justin to help make that happen," a source reveals. And the momager isn’t bothered by the teen singer’s not-so- single status. “She doesn’t care that he is dating Selena Gomez,” the source adds.
Kim Kardashian is even trying to set up her model half-sister. “Kim invited Justin to her wedding in an attempt to play matchmaker,” the source says. And the clever bride even made sure that the Biebs, 17, would be conveniently without a plus one on the big day — and free to mingle with Kendall without girlfriend Selena standing in the way. “They try very hard to keep the Kardashian name in the spotlight,” the source says.
“They’re determined to focus the spotlight on the young girls as quickly as possible.” While Kendall, 15, is already climbing to stardom as an aspiring model — she’s already had some big gigs, such as being the face of fashion line Marcc — the Kardashian clan thinks Justin could take her to the next level. Might just be a match made in heaven!
Justin Bieber loves a good surprise.
The singer made fans go wild in late July went he popped out on stage during a Selena Gomez show. Last night, the dreamy 17-year old made yet another cute concert cameo, shocking those in attendance at a Taylor Swift performance in Los Angeles.
Watch the crowd go bonkers below, as these two young icons break into a duet of Justin's "Baby."
"You think you've heard LOUD screaming in your life," Taylor Tweeted after the event. "Then [Justin Bieber] comes out and does a surprise song during your show. Woah. Unreal."
Responded the Biebs: "We should do that more often. :) great show! #muchlove."

Why, do you always do this to me?
Why, do you always do this to me?
Why, couldn't you just see through me?
How come, you act like this
Like you just don't care at all
Do you expect me to believe I was the only one to fall?
I can feel, I can feel you near me, even though you're far away
I can feel, I can feel you baby, why
It's not supposed to feel this way
I need you, I need you
More and more each day
It's not supposed to hurt this way
I need you, I need you, I need you
Tell me, are you and me still together?
Tell me, do you think we could last forever?
Tell me, why
Hey, listen to what we're not saying
Let's play, a different game than what we're playing
Try, to look at me and really see my heart
Do you expect me to believe I'm gonna let us fall apart?
I can feel, I can feel you near me, even when you're far away
I can feel, I can feel you baby, why
It's not supposed to feel this way
I need you, I need you
More and more each day
It's not supposed to hurt this way
I need you, I need you, I need you
Tell me, are you and me still together?
Tell me, you think we could last forever?
Tell me, why
So go and think about whatever you need to think about
Go on and dream about whatever you need to dream about
And come back to me when you know just how you feel, you feel
I can feel, I can feel you near me, even though you're far away
I can feel, I can feel you baby, why
It's not supposed to hurt this way
I need you, I need you
More and more each day
It's not supposed to hurt this way
I need you, I need you, I need you
Tell me
It's not supposed to hurt this way
I need you, I need you
More and more each day
It's not supposed to hurt this way
I need you, I need you, I need you
Tell me, are you and me still together?
Tell me, do you think we could last forever?
Tell me, why

Fame
Fame is a fickle beast. Unfortunately, in the world today it is also a beast of burden and finding one to carry you around for a few hours is as easy as it has ever been. Even as we pine and fawn over the "famous for being famous" crowd in Hollywood, thousands more find temporary stardom on the Internet through less traditional means. So, what defines fame in a world where ping pong balls or clever Photoshop skills can garner someone international acclaim?
The Tinsel Town Classic
Fame and stardom may be evolving, but the same silver screen formula has created numerous stars and starlets that still capture the imaginations of millions. Movies are undeniably the largest star vehicle in the world and with a few quick films, a man or woman in Hollywood can become a household name nearly anywhere.
However, thanks to the Internet, tabloids, and the instantaneous transmission of information around the world, it’s not as feasible for these living statues of gold and bronze to survive the scandals that tend to follow them around like flies on…well you get the idea. Being famous is a dangerous proposition these days as even the tiniest sip of stardom can result in full on intoxication.
Stars like Tom Cruise have made names for themselves by speaking out on various topics repeatedly. By constantly announcing themselves to the public, sometimes in eccentrically misguided ways, they lose pieces of their credibility, causing their careers to actually suffer. It has nothing to do with religious or philosophical beliefs. It has to do with the general opinion of the public and how much a celebrity differs from that perspective. At a certain point, the burning curiosity of the masses becomes confusion and eventually disgust.
Famous for the Sake of Fame
Yes, there are the Paris Hiltons, Nicole Richies, and Kevin Federlines of the world as well. These individuals have made a name for themselves by simply being themselves. Latching on to the Hollywood lifestyle and holding on for dear life, this type of celebrity transcends recognition for accomplishments because they have not accomplished anything. Paris Hilton is rich and parties with other famous people. Kevin Federline married Britney Spears, a woman who used to be the biggest pop star on the planet.
The cult of celebrity is intriguing because it feeds on itself. Even as millions of readers and fans sit idly and wonder what exactly these men and women did to become so famous, they ravenously devour the information fed to them on a daily basis by sites like TMZ, supermarket tabloids, or idle workplace gossip.
Even individuals who no longer earn their stardom, such as Lindsey Lohan or Britney Spears can find their way into this category through a litany of captivating, if largely dim acts. Being in the public spotlight has an effect on people that is impossible to understand. For that reason, celebrities have been known to act strange, falling victim to their own stardom and the surreal realization that everything they do is being watched.
Fame for fame’s sake is an odd accomplishment and only made possible by the oversaturation of news and entertainment media. Thousands of shows, websites, and paparazzi make the industry boom and carefully worded copy and special reports ensure that the viewers and readers of the world become attached to these odd individuals who have somehow become both pariahs and saints in our consumer culture.
The Homegrown Celebrity
The old modicum that everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame has never been quite as true as it is today. The internet has created a culture in which anyone can become famous for anything, largely because of the user-defined credos of sites like YouTube and Blogger. If anyone with internet access and a cheap video camera can become a superstar, there are likely to be millions of superstars.
Oddball humor such as Ask a Ninja or the video blogging of LonelyGirl15 are prime examples of how a single individual with a webcam can become an international superstar overnight. The free flow of information makes it possible. Of course, what this means is that even the famous can become more famous by using this philosophy. Bands like Ok Go made a name for themselves with homegrown music videos of choreographed dance routines and treadmills. Even advertising campaigns are taking the viral route these days, using unnamed movie trailers and cleverly crafted videos.
The internet provides the largest demographic in the world and only a small percentage of that demographic needs to be curious about a video or blog to make it successful. For that reason, clever ideas and word of mouth are all that a person needs anymore to become famous.
Everyone Else
That makes the rest of us consumers. The world is full of consumers and viewers, those individuals who watch as Tom Cruise says odd things or Paris Hilton goes to jail. Everyone else sees us watching and the content just continues to grow. Fame may be a fickle beast, but it is also a commodity and it is more freely available than ever before.
